IN THE 2006 WORLD CUP GIANLUIGI BUFFON WAS A WALL FOR ITALY.

 For those wo missed the 2006 world cup  played in unified Germany for the very first time., and was finallly won by Italy  with a penalty shoot out  after playing extra time for a draw.
 The hero here was the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon who in his first five games at this world cup  he kept clean sheet.
 In fact he conceded only two goals before the finals with  France.,
 Thetwo goals also sadly included a own goal, the ball kicked by the American Cristian  Zaccardo, the ball touched the finger tips of Gianluigi Buffon and went inside . The other goal was scored by  Zinedine Zidane with a penalty kick.
 Gianluii Buffon also saved the penalty shot kicked by David  Trezeguet , which made Italy winners over France at the 2006 world cup.
 This match will be remembered also for the long time Gianluigi Buffon took to be defeated by the very first goal at the world cup.
 Gianluigi Buffon  was undefeated  at this world cup for 460, four hundred and sixty minutes.
But the world cup record  for the longest time a goalkeeper kept a clean sheet  was way back in the year 1990 world cup , the Italian goal keeper then called Walter Zenga was undefeated  for a total of 577, five hundred and seventy seven minutes..
 Walter Zenga was finally beaten buy the Argentinean footballer Claudio Cannigga., in that  years quarter final match played at Bari.
