According to THE SUN, Lionel Messi and his father Jorge Messi who is his agent has almost completed the agreement with Barcelona, for anew contract, as his contract expires this summer. He has not signed the contract as yet, as he is now in Argentina , with the team for the Copa America, which will be played in Brazil from 13/6/2021. He will sign the contract when he returns.
The contract is for a a period of 4, four years, two years are with Barcelona and the other two years will be with the Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham.
Lionel Messi has agreed to taken a very big cut in his yearly salary. .
So yearly he will be getting 60 sixty million n Euros before tax , and he will end up getting a sum of 35 thirty five million Euros..
Now that means he has taken a really big cut in his yearly salary. of 53, fifty three million Euros.
It was amply clear from the start that Lionel Messi was not going anywhere in the summer.
He had said clearly that he wants to play two more years at Barcelona and in Spain only.As his children are small , it would affect their schooling..
Sergio Aguero would not have signed up with Barcelona as they are childhood friends as well as footballers for Argentina.
There may be a clause in the contract that says Lionel lMessi can not sign a contract with a Elite club in Europe like from England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. As Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez had this clause in their contract, tat is why they played in Qatar and Japan.
