WHY IS THE WEST HAM UNITED AND SHEFFIELD UNITED GAMES A GRUDGE MATCH.?

For the past twelve years any match played between West Ham United and Sheffield United ae always going to be a grudge match, and it all started after the 2006/2007. season. Now after the 2006 world cup held in Germany two Argentinean footballers were wanted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, both were brought from the Brazilian club Corinthians. And the two were a striker called Carlos Tevez and a holding midfielder called Javier Mascherano. But sadly Carlos Tevez did not click right away he took time to settle at West Ham United, and that did not help the club in anyway. The club was standing at the very bottom of the English Premier League table, with a difference of ten points from safety for the Hammers and a total of nine games to be played , it was all dark and gloomy at Upton Park. But then wonder of wonders Carlos Tevez got up from his slumber and scored a lot of goals and the stand out goal was scored against Manchester United which saved the season for West Ham United. But then Sheffield United drew their match which they should have won with Wigan Athletic. But actually why was there anger between West Ham United and Sheffield Wednesday? The reason is that according to the F.A rules in England at that time and even now a footballer can not be the property of a third party like a agent or a company. So Sheffield United claimed that both Carlos Tevez were illegally brought from Corinthians and played illegally for West Ham United. Later on in a court case which said the deal for Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez was a illegal deal, and West Ham United were fined 15, fifteen Million pounds and was to pay another five million pounds in four years. Now the owner of West Ham United was a Icelander who made his. millions in the biscuit industry. Now in the year 2008 a big recession hit the world and banks collapsed Here the owner of Manchester United lost a lot of money in Iceland bank collapsing. The last straw was West Ham United lost to Sheffield United in a penalty shoot out, and after 46 six minutes Carlos Tevez left the field in anger and he later left for Manchester United, and Javier Mascherano joined Liverpool on loan but later he moved to Barcelona.
