The award went to Kareem Benzema, the French striker at Real Madrid. Now Lionel Messi was the top goal scorer in the Spanish La Liga with a total of 25, twenty five goals and also a total of 21, twenty one assists as well, mind you he broke the record held by Xavi Hernandes, who had 20, twenty assists. And you must be aware that Lionel messi had missed three games due to injuries as well, or the goals and the assists would have been more. While Kareem Benzema scored only 21 ,twenty one goals. So was it right to give the award to Kareem Benzema just because he won the La Liga with Real madrid in the year 2019/2020.
