That year Sir Bobby Charlton defeated Eusibo , by a single vote.
For Eusibo it was a case of being so very close ad also being so far.
2) Back in the year 1996 the two main candidates for the balloon d Or was the German Matthaeus Sammer and Ronaldo Nazario., the Brazilian.
Now Mathaeus Sammer also won the Balloon dÓr b a single vote.
He is the last German footballer to win the Ballon d Or.
He managed to win the Balloon dÓr hat year as he helped Germany win the Euro Cup 1996 .
He also became the third defender ever to win the Ballon dÓr After Franz Beckenbauer, Fabio Canavaro.
