THE GREAT PAULO ROSSI DIES AT SIXTY FOUR YEARS.

 The Italian striker Paulo Rossi who played for Vicenza , Juventus, A.C.Milan , has sadly died at the age of 64, sixty four years, he was not well for some time, but he family have not disclosed his illness.

 He will be remembered mainly in Italy for single handedly winning the  third world cup for Italy in Spain, in the year  1982, he also won the Gulden boot after scoring six goals, including a hat rick against  Brazil, with a score of 3-2.

 Actually the 1982 world cup started with a whimper  Italy drew  all tgeir first three games in the group stages. They defeated Germany in the final . He also won the then called EUROPEAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR.

 But things would have been different here as in the year 1980, Paulo Rossi was involved  in match fixing and got a three year ban, after he appealed it  was reduced to two years ban only . So he played in the world cup in 1982.

 The match fixing scandal is called THE TOTONERO SCANDAL.

 He always said he was innocent in the case. He said winning the world cup brought him redemption.

ENZO BEARZOT DIES AT 83 YEARS.

The former Italian footballer and manager of Italy from1975 to 1986, has died at the age of 83 years, he was not well for some time now. he won the world cup for Italy in the year 1982 inSpain, the hero of that world cup was Paulo Rossi. In that world cup Italy started slowly but with wins over Argentina, Brazil and then Italy beat West Germany 3-1 in that final.He was according to Rossi Italy's greatest footballer of the 20th century. He played 104 games for Italy, and also lead Italy to the 4th place in the 1978 world cup in Argentina.

His passing away was on the same day of the death of Vittorio Pozzo , who died 42 years ago. Vittorio Pozzo lead Italy to world cup wins in the years 1934 and 1938. Vittorio Pozzo becomes the only manager to lead a country to two world cup wins in succession, no other manager has done it so far.

GOLDEN BALL AWARDS.

The golden ball is given at the end of each world cup to the outstanding player of the world cup. Usually strikers and midfielders get it due to the number of goals scored. But the German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is the only goalkeeper to get it.
