Bulgaria have not produced so many good footballers like other Europen countries.Their famous footballers were Hristo Stoichkov who played for Barcelona under Johan Cruiff GOLDEN BARCELONA boys. He was mainly responsible to bring Bulgaria into a world cup. In the year 1994 world cup in the U.S.A. Bulgaria knocked out the top champion Germany. All along with Letchkov,and Balakov.Stoichkov in 1994 shared the golden boot with the Russian Oleg Solenko, both scored six goals. Oleg Solenko scored five goals in one game. And Stoichkov, Balakov and Letchkov, were chosen in the best of the eleven players of the world cup 1994.. But they did not do so well in the Euro 1996. They went out early in 1996 Euro .But they reached the Quarter finals in 1994 the highest Bulgaria have ever reached.
Stoichkov says that now only footballer from Bulgaria who is playing well in Europe is Dimitrov Berbatov at Manchester United.Letchkov, Balkov were playing in Germany and Italy so they got experience, todays players do not get it sadly.
