The new seasons first season started with a great match the Champion League winner Inter Milan loosing out to the Spanish team Athletic o Madrid the last years Europa champions. The spanish defeated Fulham last year in the final.

The margin of win was a 2-0 win for the Athletic o Madrid team. With goals being scored by the Spaniard Jose Antonio Reyes in the 63rd minute and the second goal came from the Argentinian player Sergio Aguerro, who is also the son in law of Diego Mara dona. But both the goalkeepers Julio C easer the young Athletico Madrid goalkeepers made great saves.
