During the summer transfer window there was great talk about the Dutch footballer Wesley Sneijder joining Manchester United from Inter Milan , to replace Paul Scholes who retired last year.Ferguson wanted a good replacement for Paul Scholes.
Inter Milan were in need of cash as they were a cash strapped club then. But the sale of the Cameroon striker Samuel Etoo got the club much needed cash.
Wesley Sneijder did not want to leave Inter Milan, as he liked the city and club.His weekly salary was far to much for Ferguson so the deal fizzled out . That is what the football world thought.
But the truth was the former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho advised Sneijder not to join either Manchester United or Manchester city.
