Jose Pepe Reina the Spanish and Liverpool goalkeeper , has disclosed in his autobiography . That his move to Arsenal in 2010 was rejected by Liverpool.
The owners of Liverpool F.C.then Mr George Gillet and Tom Hicks greatly feared that if indeed Jose Pepe Reina , was indeed sold to Arsenal. Then the two American owners would find it very hard indeed to sell the club.
Arsenal had come forward to pay Liverpool a huge 20 million pounds for Jose Pepe Reina.
Reina was told it was another reason for the Arsenal deal to collapse.
We must remember last year Liverpool did badly, and were not even in the champion league. So 20 million pounds was huge , a price clubs play for strikers.
