The Argentinean footballer Lionel Messi has won the Ball on d Or for the year 2011.He defeated Christiano Ronaldo and Xavi Hernandez for the trophy.
Lionel Messi also becomes the second player ever after Michel Platini, to win the award three years in a row.
And he also becomes the fourth player to win this award three times
1) Michel Platini. France. Won it in 1983, 1984, 1985.
2)Johan Cryuff. Holland. Won it in 1971, 1973, 1974.
3)Marco Van Basten. Holland. Won it in 1988, 1989, 1992.
4) Lionel Messi. Argentina.Won it in 2009, 2010,2011.
Lionel Messi at 24 becomes the youngest footballer to win three trophies.
