He now has equalled the previous record of the most games played in a champion league , which was 142 games, previously held by another Spaniard Raul Gonzalves of Real Madrid. Now only the other player who can have any chance of breaking the record is Iker Casillas of Real Madrid, who has now played 141 matches so far in the Champion League.
