The fine Lionel Messi paid was a huge sum of 221, 000 thousand pounds. This may be peanuts to the new record holder as he is now officially the highest paid footballer in the world. In his new contract he signed this week he gets a weekly salary of 500,000 five hundred thousand pounds.
