But Manchester United did everything possible to hold on to their French footballer, even though both Jose Mourinho and Anthony Martial did not see eyeball to eyeball. The main reason that Manchester United did not want to sell Anthony Martial, is because according to the contract made between Manchester United and the French club Monaco, there were many clauses put in the contract, and one of them is that if Manchester United do sell Anthony Martial, then Manchester United would have to give Monaco, half the amount of the money they would get from the sale of Anthony Martial. For example if they , Manchester United do ever sell Anthony Martial for say a 100,one hundred million pounds, then Manchester United would be legally bound to pay Monaco 50, fifty million pounds, and that is far to much of money to lose.
