The chosen successor to Sir Alex Ferguson by Sir Alex Ferguson himself as the manager of Manchester United.
His big regret was that he failed to sign the German world cup winner Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich.
There were talks but it did no materialise at all. Real Madrid decided to do a swap deal they allowed the Spaniard Xavi Alonso , to leave Real Madrid for Bayern Munich, and Toni Kroos left Bayern Munich for Real Madrid.
Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid for a world record then of 86, eighty six million pounds. The amount was huge mainly because Real Madrid agreed to pay 86, eighty six million pounds in indstalments, there were about three or four instalments.
And Cesc Fabregas always wanted to join his childhood club Barcelona.
