WHY WAS GERRARD PIQUE SHOWN A RED CARD IN THE CHAMPION LEAGUE AND GAVE A PENALTY?

 Now some people are asking why was the Barcelona defender Gerrard Pique  in the champion league match group stage was guilty of bringing a player down by pulling his aponents jersey while both were in the box.

 Gerrard then conceded  a penalty and also got his red card  and marching orders.

 But people ask awhy a yellow card and a penalty  was not shown here.

 Now according to the new rules of F.I.F.A . If a player does bring another player downin the box by pulling his jersey it is a straight red card here.

 But had Gerrard Pique tried for the ball and then brought his aponent down , then a penalty and a yellow card would have been shown
