 The referee wrote STRIKING A PLAYER WITH HIS ARM,WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE,  While THE BALL WAS IN PLAY,AND NOT IN PLAYABLE REACH.

 So this mean it happened during the playing time and not during the end after the whistle blew.

 So it is clear here that Lionel Messi did not hit,slap, punch ,kick,headbutt or bite, these fouls get 8,eight to 12 twelve game ban. This was just a push to move Asir Villalbire. So as footballers are not allowed to touch a nother player he got his two game ban. But even then Barcelona will appeal the charge.
