In the 2006 F.I.F.A world cup held in unified Germany for the very first time.
And in-the group stages F. Australia were playing Croatia.
And the referee for this match had to be a English referee after all and his name was Graham Poll. A vastly experienced referee in England.
In this match Graham Poll was going to do the biggest blunder in F.I.F.A history.
In the game at various time he showed the Croatian player Josep Simonic not two but three yellow cards followed by the red card. Now F.I.F.A rules clearly state that there should only be two yellow cards followed by a red card, and not three yellow cards.
But what was greatly surprising was that neither the two linesmen nor the fourth referee , the man who shows the time board , they all failed to inform Graham Poll of this big blunder.
And It had to be all four English referees , who are the worst referees.
The President of F.I.F. A. tried to defend the mistake and all the referees involved . But Graham Poll rightly retired as a referee that very day.
