The agent then approached Luis Enrique , the manager of Barcelona., but Barcelona rejected the offer, as Barcelona had Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandes, Serge Busquets and Lionel Mess that year. Barcelona had also got Ivan Rakitic from Seville..
So he then joined Real Madrid but there is also a story ,that Real Madrid dd a swap deal with Xavi Alonso going to Bayern Munich and Toni Kross gong the other way to Real Madrid, from Bayern Munich.
