Many of you all may never have heard of Magico Gonzales, the footballer from El Salvador, in South America.
He was quick, fast and dribbled very well, the ball would stick to his feet as if with elastic.
He played in the 1962 world cup for El Salvador. in Spain, he just ran through the Mexican team an scored a real good solo goal. Scouts were watching from clubs in Europe.
But even as he was highly talented he had a bad vises as well.
While in Spain the Argentinean world cup winner Diego Maradona ,admitted openly that Magico Gonzalves was better then him. . And Diego Maradona wanted Magico Gonzalves at Barcelona.
The manager Luis Menotti said keeping Diego Maradona under control was hard keeping both was a challenge. Magico Gonzalves came drunk in the morning for the match with Atlrtico Madrid. He was sent back to Cadiz, his drinking and night club Ife and girls killed his career. He helped Cadiz to finish 12th on the table. He also ha a stadium named after him. Once at he hotel there was a fire and the alarm went off but he was seen holding a prostitute in his arms in bed.
At Cadiz he did not come for training for six days. Finally te club agreed terms tat paid if he played only. He was not bothered about football he just wanted to enjoy life to he full. A talent waste.
