THE EURO 1960 CUP.

The first EURO CUP ever held was held in FRANCE , from the july 6 to july 10 1960. It is similar to the COPA AMERICA. Where all the AMERICAN countries take part while in the EURO only EUROPEN countries take part.
In the 1960 EURO CUP only four countries qualified to play . They were the U.S.S.R. ,YUGOSLAVIA, CZECHOSLAVAKIA and the host country FRANCE . SPAIN refused to send their team . So it was FRANCE verses three communist countries.
There were 4 teams. There were 4 games played . There were 17 goals scored.
The top scorers were Milan Gali and DragonJerkovic of YUGASLAVIA . NALENTIN IVONOV and VIKTOR PONEDELIN of the U.S.S.R .AndFRANCOIS HEUTTA of FRANCE each scored two goals each.
The final score was U.S.S.R2- YUGOSLAVIA 1 . After extra time.
Notable absentees were W GERMANY, ENGLAND, ITALY, and SPAIN.
