The EURO 1972 was held in BELGIUM . It statred on june 14 and finished on 18 june. As in those early years of the EURO tournament only four teams reached the final. So in EURO 1972 also there werefour teams.

In the second semifinal held on the same day U.S.S.R . scored 1 goal and HUNGARY scored o goals.
On the 17 june BELGIUM and HUNGRY played for the third place. BELGIUM scored 2 goals and HUNGRY scored one goal.
The final was played on the 18 june in which WEST GERMANY scored 3 goals and U.S.S.R. Failed to score a single goal so WEST GERMANY won 3 -0.
The fastest goal of the tournament was scored in 24 minutes by RAOUL LAMBERT of BELGIUM and GERT MULLER of WEST GERMANY.
